The God Who Comforts - Part II

The second chapter in the book of Nahum gives a detailed account of the destruction of Nineveh. While the prophet's focus is undoubtedly toward the downfall of Nineveh and the restoration of Israel, the broader focus takes the whole earth into account. All kings and nations will stand before their Maker and face judgment. All wayward and wicked people will either be consumed in the wrath of God or that wrath will be displaced on Christ. All the people of God will be vindicated on the Last Day. The certainty of this reality is what enables the people of God to love their enemies in spite of any and all opposition they may face.
