The Providence of God

Though a popular book, Esther is often quite misunderstood in the broader church today for a multitude of reasons. Many tend to focus on the characters within the book, as if their lives are a blueprint for Christians to follow and emulate, or reject entirely, but the book itself focuses on revealing a unique aspect of the character of God: Divine Providence. Through a series of seemingly insignificant "coincidences," we find that God is at work to provide and care for His people, Israel. For this reason, the most significant details of Esther beautifully capture the truth that God intervenes through all events in history to accomplish His purposes, for the good of His people.
