The Severity and Kindness of God

We return once more to an imprecatory psalm, where David calls down curses upon his enemies. While many wish to downplay the severity of God in His wrath against sin, the Scriptures hold no punches. Over and again, Scripture testifies to the reality that moment by moment, all the world is hurtling toward this inevitable Day, where God will raise the living and the dead, and they will give an account to God. Even more terrifyingly, some have become living examples of that wrath to come. Thus, the question for us remains: are we the proud at heart, who will be cast down in His severity on that fateful Day, or those upon whom the kindness of the Lord will come?
