The God Who Has Mercy

The book of Jonah is a widely recognized story of a rebellious prophet who flees from the presence of the Lord instead of heeding the call to preach a message of judgment on the people of Nineveh. Unfortunately, many focus upon the secondary themes of the book rather than its main focus: that God is a God of mercy that loves to save sinners. As we look to the book today, that same truth rings through. If you're in Christ today, it is only because God, in His great mercy, sent someone greater than Jonah and called you to repentance and faith. If you're not in Christ, God, in His great mercy, calls you to repentance and faith in Christ so that you may be free from the wrath that is to come.
